Illawarra Winter Land Based Saltwater Fly Fishing (1 or 2 People)
The ‘Gong’ will do nothing if not surprise you. Framed by the Pacific Ocean to the east and a lush escarpment to the west, the region is naturally blessed and offers up some fantastic salt water fly fishing opportunities.
The Wollongong / Illawarra is located just south of Sydney and the drive takes around 90 minutes.
The Wollongong / Illawarra region boasts some awesome fishing opportunities for species such as Flathead, Salmon, Tailor and Luderick.
Luderick are a robust fish with a broad powerful tail, they are a great sports fish on the fly gear .. A forgotten fighter.!
Once hooked up, although they won’t go aerial like a rainbow trout or Australian salmon, pound for pound, on fly gear, Luderick are well and truly up there in regards to fighting capabilities.
They are somewhat adapted to skinny, turbulent water, and closely resemble how brown trout fight, hard, dirty and deep with some screaming runs!
A Saltwater guided tour for 1 or 2 people (total cost $500)
Reel Fly Fishing supply all equipment required such as, Rods, Flies, Waders and Boots (you are welcome to bring and use your own). Reel Fly Fishing supplies bottled water and/or fruit juice, cans of soft drink and catered seasonal fruit packs by Passionate Palate. You are welcome to bring any additional food or drinks you wish.
